International Patient Services

International patients have looked to Methodist Healthcare for their medical needs for generations. We combine quality care with the special attention needed by each person when traveling to a foreign country for medical attention. International Services supports you as the patient, your family and your referring physician by assisting with planning and coordinating arrangements even before you leave home.

International Services provides patients a full range of comprehensive services including:

Medical Records
International Services can arrange for a specialist to review your medical history to determine the best course of treatment and whether there is a need for you to travel to another country to seek it. Records can be sent via e-mail or traditional methods.

Physician Appointments
Once your medical needs have been determined, International Services will schedule all necessary physician consultations and procedures to accommodate your schedule. You merely have to contact our offices prior to traveling so that we can gather the necessary information to prepare and coordinate all aspects of your stay.

Language Assistance
Language will not be a barrier at the Methodist Healthcare System. We have the resources available to meet the needs of any patient regardless of country of origin. These services are provided at no additional charge to medical care provided, for both inpatient and outpatient settings. If an interpreter is needed, please notify International Services when arranging your appointments.

Travel
International Services assists patients and their family members with travel arrangements, including hotel reservations and transportation needs. Please let us know how we can assist you.

Emergency Medical Transfers
Assistance can be provided if there is a need for air ambulance service.  META is a service provided by Methodist Healthcare which facilitates access to its world-class tertiary care hospitals in San Antonio, Texas.

Methodist Healthcare's International Services Department has over ten years of experience in coordinating transports.  In order to respond immediately to a medical emergency, International Services has developed the protocols necessary to arrange emergency medical transfers for patients.  A bilingual International Services representative is on call 24 hours a day to serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, air ambulance and health care facilities.

Accommodations
International Services is available to help you find accommodations that best suit your needs and tastes. Established agreements are in place with multiple hotels that provide Methodist Healthcare's International patients and their families with discounted rates, free transportation and other special services. Let us know your needs, preference and budget.

VIP Accommodations
10 South is a patient-care floor that provides guests with the utmost in luxury, comfort and convenience. Each suite features a bedroom for the patient with entertainment center and bath, as well as a separate living room with queen-size sofa bed and bath for a family member or guest. A separate entertainment center serves the living room and sliding wooden panels can be closed to separate the two areas.

Transportation
International Services can make the necessary arrangements to have you and your family members traveling with you picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel. When you are ready to depart, we will also assist with arrangements for transportation back to the airport.

Cost Estimates
Once your medical records and history have been reviewed, International Services can provide you with advance estimates for charges. Our financial office, in conjunction with International Services, can also handle deposits and assist with other financial matters.

International Patient Brochures
Patient brochures have been created to familiarize our international patients with the Methodist Healthcare System and our comprehensive range of services. A Patient Guide is also available to provide the details necessary for planning a stay with us and as a valuable reference guide to getting the most from Methodist Healthcare.
